Project Overview: Rate Café

This project, executed by the Ashkal Arabia Wood Workshop Department, showcases a sophisticated blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern café aesthetics. The woodwork serves as the primary design anchor, providing warmth, structural elegance, and a premium finish throughout the multi-level space.

The following details the scope of work completed for Rate Café:

1. Structural Woodwork & Ceiling Treatments

A defining feature of the café is the extensive use of natural timber to create a cozy, organic atmosphere.

1. Pergola & Ceiling Joists: In the outdoor/semi-outdoor seating areas, we installed heavy-duty wooden beams and a rustic reed-style ceiling supported by polished timber pillars.
2. Grand Staircase: A bespoke wooden staircase featuring turned balusters (hand-carved spindles) that provide a classic, high-end feel while ensuring structural durability.

2. Custom Doors & Partitioning

1. Internal Doors: Solid wood doors featuring deep-set paneling and custom moldings, finished in a rich walnut stain to match the interior color palette.
2. Decorative Wall Panels & Screens: We manufactured intricate geometric "Mashrabiya" style wall screens. These panels serve as focal points in the seating areas, blending privacy with artistic flair.
3. Window Louvers: Custom wooden shutters and louvers that allow for light control while maintaining the café’s rustic-luxe aesthetic.

3. Bespoke Furniture & Seating

Our workshop department handcrafted several furniture elements tailored to the café's layout:

1. Dining & Coffee Tables: From large communal rectangular tables with matte black bases to circular marble-topped coffee tables with wooden supports.
2. Integrated Banquette Seating: Custom-built wooden frames for the recessed "Majlis" style floor seating and the structured sofas found in the lounge areas.
3. Accent Pedestals: Fluted wooden side tables and pedestals used as functional decor throughout the space.

4. Specialized Millwork & Bar Areas

1. Service Counters & Back-Bars: The workshop produced large-scale cabinetry, including the mirrored back-bar display and lower storage units, featuring seamless wood grain transitions and integrated lighting channels.
2. Decorative Accents: Custom wooden moldings and "dado" rails that wrap around the interior perimeter, creating a cohesive visual link between different rooms.

Technical Specifications

1. Materials: High-grade solid timbers and premium veneers selected for moisture resistance and durability in high-traffic environments.
2. Finish: A signature multi-step staining process, resulting in a smooth, satin finish that highlights the natural beauty of the wood grain.
